Candowell was created so that people can keep using social media to share the things they love, but with a twist: they’ll be contributing to important causes while they do so.
It’s that simple!
Candowell is the result of a joint effort carried out by an independent group of communication professionals. It’s a for-profit organization whose business model is similar to the ones adopted by pretty much every social media company out there, except 30% of our revenue goes directly to socio-environmental projects.

USERS ATTRACT ADVERTISING

The bigger our user base is, the more attractive we will become to advertisers. You’ll help us generate more clicks, thus increasing page views and brand interest.

30% OF THE REVENUE GOES TO DONATIONS

Instead of just accumulating profits, like other social networks do, 30% of our advertising revenue will be donated to support socio-environmental and humanitarian initiatives. Projects and NGOs will be selected by the Candowell Institute, and the whole process will be properly audited.

ONE MILLION USERS IS OUR FIRST MILESTONE

CANDOWELL HAS ALREADY ALLOCATED $100,000 FOR ITS FIRST DONATION


Our advertising revenue depends almost entirely on our ability to generate a substantial user base.

So, even before that happens, the founding partners at Candowell have already allocated US$100,000 to be donated to two leading global NGOs. The names of the NGOs will be announced soon.

The money is part of the original investment plan designed by Candowell’s group of investors, and the idea is to have a social network capable of promoting change from day one. Or, if you think about it, to show that we’re putting our money where our mouth is. This first donation will be made as soon as we reach our one-million-user milestone. As part of our initial commitment, we’ll add 30% of the advertising revenue generated during this launch period to our donation. Each one of the NGOs will get 30% of the value, and the remaining 40% will be split between them according to the results of a poll carried out among Candowell users. The poll is also set to begin when we reach one million users.

The $100,000 we have allocated will be donated in full when we reach our first major milestone: one million users. And, as part of our initial commitment, we’ll add 30% of the advertising revenue generated during this launch period to this first donation.

WHO WATCHES OVER THE INVESTMENTS?

One of the cornerstones of our project is transparency. This includes every process and every step we take along the way. Here, at www.candowell.com, in a very near future, our users and supporters will be able to access real-time updates on the amounts we’ve raised and the donations we’ve made.

The Candowell network will operate in conjunction with the Candowell Institute from day one. The institute will ensure that 30% of the social network’s revenue goes to socio-environmental projects, and it will carry out its role in a completely independent, transparent way. It will be responsible for selecting projects that will be put to vote starting from the second donation cycle—that is, after the first donation, which we’ve described above.

Projects that can be voted on will be pre-selected by a panel made up of scholars, sociologists and environmentalists. The Candowell Institute will be in charge of periodically restructuring the commission so that we can avoid all kinds of bias in terms of which projects get chosen.

After the initial $100K+ donation, new projects will be put to vote as soon as 30% of our advertising revenues reaches the amount of $100,000. This also means that each of our donations will be of at least $100K.

The data will be audited by two independent companies, one of which will focus exclusively on Candowell while the other one will focus on the Candowell Institute. Financial data of both Candowell and the Candowell Institute will be made public according to the legislation of each country where we raise funds for socio-environmental projects.
